Pastoral care is a ministry that serves and witnesses as the presence and compassion of Christ in times of need. Pastoral care describes the activities of ministers who are trained to respond to individuals and families with appropriate emotional support and concrete assistance and provide religious and spiritual guidance. Pastoral care is a theologically informed ministry grounded in Roman Catholic tradition and guided by a community of faith whose goals are to nurture and support people in need. Pastoral care provides healing, sustaining, guiding and reconciling support in times of crisis such as chronic illness or death and funeral planning and responds with care to individuals with issues around family or parenting, marriage preparation and the experience and support of senior citizens.
